Here's the scoop
The Canada-Alberta Job Grant (CAJG) is a funding program where employers and government share the cost of training new and existing employees to increase their knowledge and skills to meet the needs of Alberta’s changing economy.
The program is available to private and not-for-profit sector employers of all sizes across the province and First Nations and Métis Settlements.
The grant will cover 2/3's of eligible training costs up to a maximum of $10,000 per employee and $300,000 per year for each employer.
It's an employer-driven training program.
This means that employers decide who gets training and what type of training may be needed for new and existing employees.
In other words, you can partner with Barbara May (or any other third party provider) to identify your team's needs, apply for the Canada-Alberta Job Grant and complete training.
The Canada-Alberta Job Grant aims to be flexible both in terms of training and delivery method. Training can be delivered online, on-site or in a classroom, and it may be undertaken on either a part-time or full-time basis as long as it is a minimum of 21 hours.
This means you can maximize your training budget by selecting the delivery time table that best meets your needs. For example a three day retreat, weekly sessions or monthly leadership training.
As part of the application process, Employers must attest that the training funded by the Canada-Alberta Job Grant is incremental, which means that the training is in addition to existing training and would not hove otherwise take place.
In order to determine if the training requested is eligible for funding, answer the following questions:
1) Will this training take place without Canada-Alberta Job Grant funding?
2) Has the training already been paid for?
3) Has the training already started?
If you answered 'yes' to any of these question, the requested training in not defined as 'incremental,' and therefore it is not eligible for Canada-Alberta Job Grant funding.
Please note: Employers are required to use a third-party training provider (like Stumbling Blocks Team Building Seminars) to deliver the training.
