Motivation
  • If you're looking for a motivational speaker for your upcoming meeting, conference or special event call Barbara May.
  • She has been a national-level gymnast, won awards as an athletic coach, hosted ACCESS Television's "May We Talk?" and joked her way into the Guinness World Records.
  • In her keynote speeches, Barbara shares and teaches her Stumbling Blocks philosophy — the belief that you can get past your stumbling blocks — to help people in the audience understand and embrace her key message: If you get back up, anything is possible.
  • But to get to where—and who—she is today, she had to live through her own life-changing stumbling block.
  • Here's the scoop
  • At age 46, Barbara suffered life-threatening pulmonary emboli (blood clots in her lungs). She survived, as you can tell. But she didn't just survive; that event, and her recovery from it, turned out to be the breakthrough she needed.
  • That's how she created "Stumbling Blocks".
"Barbara's keynote gave attendees the chance to interact with one another and develop their problem solving skills. She has a great story, and kept the crowd motivated and enthused for the entire hour." - Brenda Kolasa, Success 4 Business Expo

Barbara saw that as long as organizations are made up of human beings, there will be mistakes, controversies, and conflict. There will be accidents, injuries, and illness. These stumbling blocks can create anxiety-ridden days, sleepless nights, a churning in the pit of your stomach and other miseries.

But stumbling blocks can be overcome. And Barbara May can show you how.

That's what she had to do— minute by minute, day by day—during her illness and subsequent recovery. Every moment felt like a hurdle, like a trial as she experienced it, so every moment looked like a victory as she looked back at it.

Now, with that enormous stumbling block behind her, Barbara's mission is to help individuals and teams see and get past their stumbling blocks and be happy, motivated and productive.

It's a mission she takes seriously, because we spend our lives working. So when we work well, it's a whole lot easier to live well.

"What a hoot! And yet I came away learning something--not just laughing." - Participant, Administrative Support Conference
